Serratura in History
Rich in tradition, members of the Order of Serratura are chiefly concerned with the social hierarchy – and they view themselves at the top. The Serraturans quickly became known as the best courtiers, officiers, and landowners across the realm; the closest thing to nobility in a land without kings and queens. They were tasked by the concord to re-invent the code of chivalry so that it suited all the lands. They became a powerful force, tutoring all of the finest students from each order and quickly founded a university.
Serratura Today
Today the Serraturans tend to their duties of educating a new breed of nobility, as every noble or aspiring noble from across the lands is required to first receive tutelage at Insignia, a university run by the order. The members count themselves amongst the best educators in all the lands, though their true purpose is to uphold the Chalamerian code of chivalry. Members of this order pride themselves on their bravery and selflessness in battle, and are often seen leading the charge.
The Gryphon: Balance of Pride and Humility
The Gryphon, a majestic creature combining the strength of a lion and the grace of an eagle, epitomizes the harmony between pride and humility. As the Standard Bearer for the Order of Serratura, it serves as a radiant symbol of noble strength tempered with restraint, teaching that sacrifice and selfless service are marks of true greatness. The Gryphon inspires all who walk the misty lands of Chalameria to rise with ambition yet remain grounded in humility.
The Gryphon favors teachers, volunteers, and all who follow the chivalric path. Those who serve others without seeking personal gain receive the Gryphon’s blessings. Its teachings encourage the people of Chalameria to grow through their actions, learning from their mistakes and demonstrating resilience without succumbing to bitterness or darkness.
The Gryphon guides individuals to find a balance:
Excessive Pride leads to rash decisions, overconfidence, and eventual disaster.
Excessive Humility results in exploitation, invisibility, and a lack of recognition for one’s efforts.
To embody the Gryphon’s virtues, one must:
Know one’s limits and seek counsel when necessary.
Offer wisdom with passion yet maintain restraint.
Uphold the Code of Chivalry, using it as a compass for honor and integrity.
The Gryphon believes the strongest are those who give of themselves, valuing selfless service above all else.
A Noble and Humble People
The people of Chalameria currently stand in balance, neither tipping into prideful arrogance nor being diminished by excessive humility. They accept their mistakes with grace, take scolding as an opportunity to learn, and resist the lure of hatred or despair. Their journey reflects the Gryphon’s ideals, showing promise in their pursuit of a balanced and virtuous life.
